Work pays off in success

June 4 was a good day.
Our daughter, Jamie, went to work for the first time. That may be trivial for some, but this day was the culmination of the work of dozens of people.
You see, Jamie is autistic. Her going to work is a victory. It is a victory for her family, for the Carroll County Public School System, including Linwood Children’s Center and the many wonderful, dedicated teachers and fellow students who guided her on her way.
It is also a victory for The ARC of Carroll County, which never gave up. They found a training program for her and when she finished it, they just kept looking for a paying job.
Now, at 26, Jamie starts down a new path toward independence. The system works because good people make it work.
For Jamie, we say thank you.
